Peace

I am sure that you have heard, watched, somehow been a part of the unrest that has been going on in neighborhoods around us and in the world around us.  The loss of life and the loss of faith is tragic for those involved and all concerned.  Just because something doesn't directly affect us (we are not personally involved), doesn't mean that it truly doesn't affect us.  We as Christians are called to be people of hope, peace, and love.  How do we do that when people aren't willing to accept that?

1.  What would you do if you were a member of any of the communities torn apart by violence?

2.   Does your faith have anything to do with your actions?

3.  What is your feeling toward the song?  Do you think prayer helps?

4.  What will you do this year to help with peace in your personal world (school, home, etc)

  1. 1. If I was a member of one of the communities torn apart by violence I wouldn't know what to do. I would at least try to find God or any family I had. I would try not to think about it and try to always stay positive. I would look to God for answers.

    2. I think my faith has something to do with my actions. I think it does because when I think before I act I'll sometimes think would God want me to do this. I won't do certain things because I know it's a sin. I think that if I think more before I act I won't sin as much.

    3. I feel that the song is correct. You can be at peace when you do pray. When you talk to God he will help you find peace. When you are praying, God will guide you to do better things.

    4. I will not try to overreact about little things. I will always remember to stay calm and everything will be okay. I will try not to stress out about little things. I will always stay calm in tough situations. That will help with peace.

  2. 1. If I was a member of one of the communities torn apart by violence, I would be very scared and shook of how to fix or help the situation. I know I would stay close to anybody that I feel safe around. Praying for peace is something I would do to help calm myself down even though it would be hard to do.

    2. Yes, I think my faith is important when it comes to my actions. The reason I think this is because, I know Jesus and God want me to make the best choices in life to the best of my ability. So, when I try to lie or sin against myself or others, it stops me from making the wrong action because I know I am better than that.

    3. When I listen to the song(s), it makes me think of reality of how we can try to bring more peace into the world. Also, I think that this song helps us understand how we can spread peace and happiness in the world without causing harm to others. Yes, I think prayer does help in some cases because, if there is a crisis in your life, praying helps to bring out the best of the situation and things are only getting better, if you think positively about it.

    4. To help bring peace into my personal world, I will try to pray more for those who are suffering from violence in their world and not just think about little problems in my life that could be much worse. I will also try to be more conscious of everyone and their feelings if they going through a hard time, so they don't feel like they are being left out of something or alone. I think these things will not only help bring more peace in my personal life but, also to think of others before myself which is sometimes hard when I don't know what they are going through.

  3. If I were a part of one of the communities torn apart by violence I would try to find faith and hope. I would try to comfort nearby people who have been affected physically and emotionally. I would help them to try to find comfort with the situation and let them know something will come out of it. I would pray to God that no one else is hurt and everyone is safe and that everyone has hope for the situation.

My faith does have some part to do with my actions because having faith is knowing that it will all be ok. Having faith isn't always having an answer but what you have and know in your heart. My faith allows me to believe that God will always be there for to provide for me and will help me find the answer and do the right thing.

The songs made me realize that the world isn't a great place and that we need more peace. If there is more peace in the world then there wouldn't be as much conflict and violence. The songs also made me feel at peace in my heart. Yes, I believe prayer helps because God is the one who makes everything happen. If you pray enough and have faith then he might help end the violence and give us the tools to help him through prayer.

To help bring peace in my personal world, I will try to be kind to everyone and not cause drama. When you cause drama it is not being peaceful. In order to be peaceful you should include and be kind to everyone no matter how you have treated them or how they have treated you in the past. I believe this will help bring peace to my world and the world around me.

  4. If I personally was part of a community torn apart by violence, I would try to help it and find a solution to help it. Usually kids don't have a say in what goes on but I would still try to help. I would comfort people and tell them that everything will be ok. Sometimes community's don't get a fix, but if I were in one I would try to help and find God while doing it.

Yes my faith does have a part in my actions. When I make a choice God is always with me even if that choice wasn't the best. Sometimes I make bad choices but so does everyone else.

The song makes me understand that the world isn't the best place. People are always negative about things now, and sometimes people over do their actions about things that happen in the world. Prayer does help. It helps because when you pray you know Gods with you at all times.

One thing I can do at school is not get caught up with stupid things that don't matter and I can focus on school and God. All drama does is make people not like each other, and sometimes other people will say stuff and tell other people and then they won't like you anymore. It doesn't show peace at all when people fight with each other. All it does is start more problems. Our school has way to much of it. I can help other people and my family to show peace outside of school also.

  5. 1. If I were a member of the communities, I would feel like my life was over and have a hard time believing in God. I would think all about me and only think of me and not others which is not right because everyone is going through tough times as well. I would try my best to turn to God to look for help.

    2. Not always. I try my best to keep faith in mind when doing everyday activities, but I don't always. I know God is always there, but I don't think of him every time I do something. I think it is important to have faith contribute to your actions but I also think it is good to do wrong sometimes because you always learn from your mistakes.

    3. I like this song because it made me realize that it's not just the U.S. Which may sound weird in a way, but people forget that bad and horrible things are happening everywhere and it's not just the United States that bad things are happening in. I know this wasn't the point of the video but it made me think of that because they were different cultures in it. Again, people don't realize people are getting killed for their opinion and we have the right to think whatever we want. I think it is important to have peace in the world because if we don't we won't get along and what's the fun in that? Yes, I think the videos helps because it makes people realize that we do need to focus on other important things rather than ourselves.

    4. This year I will try my best to keep the peace in my classroom. I think everyone needs to work on focusing on others before themselves because it's not going to be all about you forever. I am also going to work on realizing that everyone is different and there is no normal standard for human beings. Going into high school, I need to start fresh and be kind and caring to everyone.

  6. 1. If I was a member of the communities torn apart by violence, I would lose faith in God. I would ask myself why this was happening to all these people. I would try to find ways to make myself feel better and have a stronger faith in God.

    2. My faith sometimes has something to do with my actions. When I show my faith in God, I try to act like God. Having faith in God is believing and following him.

    3. My feeling towards the song is that we have to pray in order to understand and receive peace. I think that if you pray for peace, are faithful, and follow God, you will be patient and receive peace.

    4. To help with peace, I can spread joy and listen to others. I can also help others when they need help and try to demonstrate the virtues to the best of my ability.

  7. 1. If I was a member of the communities with violence I probably wouldn't know what to do. I know what I would want to do, but at the moment I would be so scared that I would probably just cry. I would want to pray for peace and healing, and I would want to protect my friends and family.

    2. My faith sometimes plays a part in my decision making. If I have time to think then I believe I would think about what God would want me to do. In peer-pressure situations I think I would just act and not think. Faith can help you decide to make the correct decisions for your life.

    3. Listening to the song(s) Makes me think about how messed up the world is today and the fact that we do have to pray for those things. The world does need more songs like that to remind people that we need to respect each other and try for peace and not for just war.

    4. I can bring peace to school by not talking about others to decrease the drama rate. I can also love everyone so love and peace can work together. I can bring peace to my home by not arguing/ talking back to my parents so they don't have to yell at me. I can also try to encourage my family to do more together so that we can become closer as a family.

  8. 1. If I was in a community that was torn by violence, I would be very scared because, I wouldn't know what to do or even how to fix it. I would try my best to have hope that God would try to fix these problems. I would also want to have faith in God but, I feel I would have a hard time doing that because of the violence going on.

    2. My faith sometimes plays a role in my actions or decisions because,I want to follow God but sometimes I chooses the wrong path, that Jesus wouldn't want me to choose. I personally don't think before I do and that is a made part to why my faith sometimes plays a role in my actions, but I want to work on that. I believe I need to start taking time to think before I speak, which if I start doing this I will get closer ans closer to have faith as a main role in my actions or decisions.

    3. When I was listing the song(s) it makes me feel sad because we are destroying the worlds everyday. When God was making this world he wanted everyone to take care of his creation, but that the total opposite of what happened. I believe these songs are a refresher of what is happening and what we need to have to fix the problems around us.

    4. What I will do this year to have peace in my personally life is to not always argue with my family and just say okay and stop talking about it. I can also have peace at school because, if I am in a bad mood, I can not take it out on my friends. I believe if I start doing these things my life with become easier.

  9. 1. If I was a member of a community torn apart by violence I don't think I would be that scared. I think that I would try to re-build and use what we have. I would try to make the community better than what it already was.

    2. My faith does have something to do with my actions. Before I do certain things I take a step back and think. I think about if I should really do this and if God would want me to do this.

    3. I like the songs and I like what the messages are. Our world is corrupt and it is getting worse and worse everyday. If we pray it calms our minds down and has us take a step back and think about what we are aboiut to do.

    4. I will try to think before I act. If I take a step back and think I would do things differently. If I see other people fighting I will try and calm them down.

  10. If I was a member of a community torn apart by by violence I wouldn't know what to do. I would probably be afraid of what more could happen. I would try to help anyone I could with what I have enough power to do.

My faith has something to with my actions. If it didn't I probably wouldn't think before doing somethings. I might not help people as much. My faith makes me realize how I can be a better person.

I feel the song has an important message. We don't have very much peace in the world. We need peace. To pray we should have peace. To be peaceful when we pray. When praying you are calm and you are talking with God.

This year I will try to reduce stress. If I have a more positive mindset then I feel I will do better this year. I can help other to be peaceful to. If I can tell they are having a hard time I can talk with them and help them through it.

  11. If I was in one of the communities affected I honestly wouldn't know what to do. I would try to help and pray to God. I would try to stay positive and look on the bright side of the situation.
In a way I think it does. Before I do something I think in my head what would God think. I don't do certain things because God wouldn’t approve or it is a sin.
The song tells me that the world isn’t an amazing place. Not everyone is peaceful with others and
There are many ways I can keep the peace. I can try not to argue with others and just try to be nice. I can try to stay calm and that will make everything better. If we do not use peace then drama will start and that will cause arguments. If arguments start then people won't like each other anymore.

  12. If I was apart of one of those communities I would be scared and mad. I would want to help but not know what to do besides comfort and care. I would try and make everything okay again but I don’t
    know if I honestly could.

I don’t think my faith has everything to do but a little bit. My faith has taught me right from wrong but I also just have my moral standards which aren’t everyone who’s in my community’s standards.

I think prayer helps the person who is praying more then the person they are praying for. Knowing there is someone who is always looking out for you is assuring and can help you have hope.

I am going to try to include everyone and stay out of drama. Being kind can help to just make everyone feel loved and appreciated. If people feel this way it’s stop people from being sad and then lashing out on other people.

  13. 1) If I was part of a community torn apart by violence I would be very scared and not know what to do. I would want to move away but I would not want to leave my family. It would worry me for my and my family's safety. I would be confused and not know what to do in that situation.

    2) Yes, I try to have my actions reflect my faith. Sometimes it does not happen and I mess up, I always make sure I go back to God, even if I mess up again. I try to reflect my actions as much as I can but like I said before, I mess up daily.

    3) I get what the song is saying about how the best way to wish for peace is to pray. Praying for peace is important because God will answer you even if it isn't automatically. God will answer your prays eventually, even if its not on your time, its on his

    4) I will try to bring more peace into my household. When I fight with my brothers, instead of fighting back harder, I can just walk away. It doesn't need to continue, so why keep it going. I want to also bring peace into the classroom between friends and enemies, like Jesus says "make your enemy your friend".

  14. I don't know what i would do i think i would be upset and scared. I would calm my self down and help other people in my community. I would them bring my community together and fix what happened.

I think it does effect my actions and my words. It acts as a filter on what I say so that it doesn't hurt someones feeling. It also effects how I think before I act.

I think prayer can always help. Sometimes I think prayer helps what might happen in the situation. But sometimes I don't think it can help in the actions but it can make you feel better or helps you take your mind off the situation.

Not worry about things that much. If I am more positive and not as worried I will have more fun. By using more peach I can impact other peoples life in a great way.

  15. 1) If I was a member of a community that was torn apart by violence, I honestly wouldn't know what to do. I would try my best first to help myself and make sure I stay calm. I would then help my family and other members of my community to be happier and to rebuild our community.

    2) Yes my faith has something to do with my actions. If you are mean that shows that you have some problems with caring and that's a big virtue to me. You need to care and think about your actions before they happen.

    3) I thought of the song, Pray for Peace was okay in my opinion. I did like though that it shows that we need to have more peace in the world though. I do believe that prayers help because they help your connection with God and yourself. Prayers help you think more of yourself and God too.

    4) I will help with peace in my personal life at school by, if I hear something personal about me like a rumor then I will go straight to the person that apparently said the rumor. I will not get mad or frustrated and spread it more. I will go straight to the person that apparently said it.

  16. 1. If I was a member of a community torn apart by violence I wouldn't know what to do. I would be afraid of what more could happen. I would pray to God that he will help us be safe.

    2. Yes, my faith has something to do with my actions. I sometimes think in my head, is this the right thing to do, should I do this.

    3. I feel this song gives off a good message. Prayer helps because we know that God is always listening. We know he is there to help us when we need it.

    4. There are many ways I can keep peace. I can try to stay out of drama. Think before I speak and act. Also, I can put others before myself.

  17. If I was a member of one of the communities torn apart by violence I would probably hope and pray for the best to happen. I can’t do much else because then I would be included in the violence. I would also stay away from the violence. That is all I could do about the violence.

Faith does have something to do with my actions. Praying for peace is one thing. God wants me to make the best decisions for myself. I don’t want to get involved in violence because it’s sining. Fighting can also get people hurt, which God doesn’t want anyone to get hurt.

I feel like this song gives us peace, I think the song helps. Everyone needs to have peace for everyone else. It is important to have peace for everything and everyone. God will listen to everyone's prayers

The way peace is that I will help everyone who needs help. I will also try to be as kind to people I know so there will be more peace. I will also pray for peace for everyone else. I will do service hours as well.

  18. 1.If I was a member of any communities torn apart by violence I would be scared. I can’t say that I would do anything to stop the violence besides praying for peace, and making sure I am a solution not a problem. I would not use violence to stop them because violence is not always the answer. Another reason I would not use violence is because you can’t stop violence with more violence.

2.My faith does not always play a part in my action or decision making. My faith does affect my actions but not all the time. I do try to do the right thing, but that mostly because that's what my parents taught me not so much because of my faith. I think that people who have their faith in God play a role in their actions can act the same way as people who don’t believe in God.

3.I honestly love the pray for peace song. I think both songs are great messages. I believe that prayer can help anything. I believe this, because I know God is real and that he will answer our prayers.

4.I will try to help with peace this year. I will be kind to everyone, even the ones who are not kind to me. I will not get involved with any arguments. I will not worry about others, and focus on what I can do better instead. Lastly I will try not to argue with my coaches, parents, and teachers.

  19. If I were part of a group split up by violence, I would try to find groups of those like me, than pray. In all honesty, praying would not be my first priority. I would obviously hope that God would be with me, but I wouldn't just stop for a quick prayer break.

My faith does not influence my actions. sure, I have a sense of morale as well as right and wrong but I don't think about my faith when I make a bad decisions. When making bad decisions, I'll hear a little reminder in a back of my head that what I'm doing is obviously wrong and it'll bug me, but won't completely influence me.

The song, well, a song. In more depth, prayer signifies and promotes unity. Praying is something that all can do and in times of need, all often pray for the same thing. Prayer is very important because it also gives hope, a lighter and maybe even a smile

What will I do with peace? I don't know honestly, I'm not the most peaceful person though you can clearly see that in house or during any class I have with you. I'll try to bring a sense of unity to the 8th grade and and control my temper, hopefully not ruining any peace others my be relishing in

  20. 1) If I was part of a community torn apart by violence, I would feel very scared. But, I know I can always ask God for help. he is always there when you need him the most. I will try and solve the problem with words and not violence because violence is not the right thing to do, and it is not what Jesus would do.

2)Yes, I think my faith does have something to do with my actions. When I am getting ready to do something, and if I don't know if it is right or wrong, I think, what would Jesus do, and he would do the right thing. So, I choose what is right and won't get me in trouble or hurt.

    3) I think the song helps you a lot. It tells you that prayer can always help you. Also, you should be peaceful and spread peace. Prayer is something everyone should do daily because it lightens your mood and calms you down.

    4) This year I will try to show peace in many ways. One is by showing it to my friends and family. Another is by showing it to people I don't know and just trying to put a smile on their face and make their day.

  21. If I was a member of a community that has been torn apart by violence I will try to unite the community again. I will hold community gatherings such as barbecues and community night-outs so people can help and look out for each other. I would also organize service days to help the elderly and needy.

Yes my faith has a lot to do with my actions. Without my faith, I wouldn't be able to pray and go to church. I also wouldn't follow God's rules.

I really like the song because it has a good message in it. Everyone should pray for peace because peace unites the world. I do think prayer helps because I know God is always listening and we will answer our prayers.

To help peace in my personal world, I will try to be nice to everyone. Sometimes it is hard to be nice to people especially when there aren't nice to you. I will help anyone that needs help and I will let them vent to me if they need someone to vent to.

  22. If I was a member of any community torn apart by violence I would be pretty sad. I would try to re-unite the community back together. The way I would try to solve the problem is I would take out the negativity. That is what I would do if my community was torn apart by
    violence.

My faith does have apart in my actions. If I am tempted with something bad my faith has a big part in that decision. If I choose wrong then I could hurt me or some one else.

I feel like this song gives a good message. I think prayer should be a peaceful time and place. I do think prayers do help a lot.

I will try to not to make anyone mad. I will try to stay in my own world and stay out of others. I will try to stay calm when I get mad at someone.

    2. I think my faith has something to do with my actions because when I do something or when I am about to do something bad, I ask myself would God do this.

    3. Prayer helps because hopefully God will answer your prayer and end all of the violence.

    4. I will think of others and God. I will try to be more peaceful myself. I will pray for peace.

  24. 1. If I was a member of a community and was torn apart I wouldn’t know how to act. I would probably try calm everyone down and fix the problem. Or if it seemed unfixable I would continue to have faith. And make sure everyone comes back together.

    2. Yes, my faith does have to do with my actions. I can express my faith through actions like helping others, the poor, helping out anywhere. Or by spreading my faith throughout the community.

    3. I think prayer helps bring peacefulness to people, but they stills need to go and act on that peacefulness. Because once they are peaceful, they are in the mindset to bring peace and to go act on that peace.

    4. I will try to be a calmer person and try not to jump to conclusions or make assumptions. I will stay calm and seek a peaceful solution in a bad situation. And I will try to help others be more peaceful to.
